In addition to the initial interview, a literature search was conducted. The main goal was to answer the research question: "What research has been done on the relation between childbirth and the mother's mental and physical health". From this the main findings were the following:

Work and family interference have a negative influence on the mother's mental health

1 year after childbirth health fully recovers to pre-pregnancy state

The link between exercise and mental health was also separately investigated and according to Tomioka, 2022, although there was no significant relationship, better mental health correlated to more physical activity
